BirchHall September 2013
Camping in the UK the last weekend in September could have been risky with the weather but we had an amazing weekend. We camped at BirchHall Campsite in the back of dalby forest. We arrived put up the tents and just as we were finishing the shelters we heard a very high pitched scream, to this day we do not know if it was one of the male or female scouts. A fox had run into the tent and taken a bag which had some food in, we are unsure what else was in the bag. With a trip to Scarborough on Saturday we had a walk around the Sealife Centre before having dinner and heading to the beach. We had already gotten permission from the scouts parents that if any did not want to go in the sea because it was cold we were aloud to chuck them in. With the scouts pre warned that they were going in if they wanted to or not they all decided to go in with out the help of the leaders. After a few hours on the beach we headed to the arcades the scouts had a few hours before we went for fish and chips to have some time to themselves. For the 3rd year running we ate at The Famous Fish Pan the fish and chips were fantastic and the staff are very friendly towards a large group of smelly scouts. We had a walk along the pier to settle out tea before heading back to the campsite. The nights were very very cold so we needed a big fire to keep us warm we had a sing song, a hot drink some marshmallows and then finally time for bed. Click pictures below
